Launched in 2008, the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure, started as an 8 day end to end cycling tour of the Waterfront Trail, designed to showcase the Trail and the communities along its route while promoting cycling tourism and healthy active living in Ontario.
In 2014, the GWTA is a 5 day cycling holiday along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River with a twist! The distance between campsites each day is 40-60 km, providing more freedom to explore the communities – shop, swim, taste the wines and local foods and learn about the history of the place cyclists are staying in.
Participants (from as far as Florida and BC) of the GWTA will be arriving in Picton Monday August 11th between noon and 6pm. The 150+ cyclists will be camping out at the Picton Fairgrounds. The Picton BIA will be on hand at the Arena to guide the GWTA guests to shops and restaurants in Picton throughout the day and evening.
Please help the Picton BIA in welcoming our guests Monday to downtown Picton. Participants will be visible with bike plates and wristbands.
