On Saturday November 29th, 2014 consumers across Canada are encouraged to Shop the Neighbourhood. This initiative, created through the Yellow Pages, promotes small businesses in communities across the country.

“Small business play a key role in creating strong local economies and contribute to making neighbourhoods thriving places to live, play and work. ‘Shop the Neighbourhood’ is a celebration of their invaluable contribution to our communities and a reminder for all Canadians of how shopping locally makes a difference in all our lives.”

Businesses can visit shoptheneighbourhood.ca to sign up, create an event day promotion (e.g. a rebate, a free gift, a discount), and then benefit from a large-scale mass media awareness campaign encouraging local shopping! Businesses will receive a free participation kit with detailed instructions, including a Shop the Neighbourhood window cling they can display in their storefronts.

Shoppers should be ready to shop! Canadians across the nation will be made aware of the initiative through a comprehensive awareness campaign. They’ll find information online, at participating businesses and find event day deals at YP.ca. Window clings and yellow decor will also help identify participating businesses in each neighbourhood. Remember making that one local purchase is all it takes!

The Picton BIA has been delivering packages to all our members in Picton and encourages businesses to use this FREE opportunity to help promote the shop local message and launch the Keep it in the County campaign.

There are only 3 days left to load your deal for the 29th. Next week the BIA office will be delivering yellow scarves, umbrellas, buttons, balloons and bags to all participating businesses.

On Saturday November 29th, Shop the Neighbourhood and show your love for local businesses!
